STEMACAD

ADULT PROGRAM

Urban Ed is taking a proactive stance on helping to create employment opportunities and fill the pipeline of IT talent. Our workforce development training program has evolved to our new STEMAcad which is an initiative to help those that are unemployed and underemployed penetrate the high-demand, and well paying IT sector. Veterans, dislocated workers, and ex-offenders whether first time or returning to the community are also encouraged to apply for our program. The goal of the program is economic security by preparing participants to get globally certified in specific IT occupations and specifically be ready to work in a variety of IT career pathways. Our STEMAcad expands our courses of study to include network engineering, cloud computing, cybersecurity, computer programming, and of course our baseline training in computer support. Those completing any Urban Ed program of study will be highly trained and eligible for global IT certifications and direct job placements.

Urban Ed’s curriculum is driven by its partnerships with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Educate, Cisco’s Networking Academy, Microsoft, OpenEDG, ACI Learning, IT Pro TV, Practice Labs, and uCertify’s global e-learning systems. Our delivery is a comprehensive, high-quality curriculum that includes live instructor training, hands-on learning labs, e-learning and remedial support to ensure successful job placement. Information sessions are held at Urban Ed, 2041 MLK Jr. Ave., SE, Suite M-2 (still virtually due to the ongoing pandemic). The summer and fall 2024 featured courses is available here.
