The Pathways to Prosperity programs thrive from our strategic partnerships. Both funding and in-kind partners, as well as formal and informal partners aim to maximize our organizations collective impact in low-income communities. Current partnerships include (1) technical training support via SkillSoft Corporation; (2) job placement support via a number of placement firms such as Insight Global, TekSystems and Robert Half Technology; and (3) worker’s rights support via the DC Employment Justice Center. We also have an ongoing relationship with Family & Medical Counseling Services who provides participants access to mental health services, individual and family counseling, substance abuse counseling and primary medical care.
We are also expanding our work starting in October 2015 into five (5) middle schools providing tech clubs to help reduce truancy among 6th through 8th graders. The schools we are currently serving include Johnson Middle School, Kelly Miller Middle School, KIPP AIM, Kramer Middle School, and Stuart-Hobson Middle School.
In addition to our local and regional partnership, Urban Ed is also a global partner with Certiport, Cisco, CompTIA, Microsoft, and Pearson Vue. We are approved IT academies for a number of IT certification training programs with these major vendors as well as 1 of only 3 testing centers authorized to administer both technical and professional certification exams in the District of Columbia. We are an open site to the general public and people from across the world can test at our site on hundreds of exams from IT to real estate, accounting, nursing and many more.
